The Triplets are Home!!!

The triplets are home!! They were discharged from the hospital on Sunday, January 25th at noon. Bronson, mom and I loaded up and drove them home. What an exciting day!!!

The adjustment of having three babies at home has not been quite what I expected. I was prepared for chaotic days and nights, running around the house changing, feeding and burping three crying babies. Well....it's more of a leizure time right now. Since they sleep most of the time, it's more like we get up every 3 to 4 hours, change their diaper, feed and burp them, then put them back down. Very relaxed. But I'm not so naive that I think this is the way it will be for a long time. My chaotic life is coming.

Here's what happened since my last blog: we were told that Preston would be coming home, but Elise may be staying. When we arrived at the NICU Friday morning, I talked with the neonatologist on duty that day and expressed my concern about leaving Elise behind. She completely understood. I also told her I would like to nurse her more often. After looking at her chart, the doctor informed me that they would be taking Elise's tube out that day and I can nurse upon Elise's demand. I could also nurse however long the baby wanted to nurse. I was so happy! That day proved to be a turn around for our baby girl. She took her bottle much better that evening. She also gained weight. She did the same on Saturday. One of the nurse practicioners said that if she gained weight Saturday night, they would be looking at discharging Elise on Sunday. It was a really good day. Prayers had been answered. God is so good!! It was as if a lightbulb turned on for our baby girl and she started doing what she needed to do.

We had our visit with the pediatrician on Tuesday. All of them had gained weight! Mollie is now 5 lbs 9 oz; Elise 5 lbs 5oz; and Preston 5lbs 6oz. We also went to the opthamologist on Wednesday. That went well. So far, so good. Their eyes are in great shape. We go back to the pediatrician next Tuesday for immunizations. Elise has her appointment with the cardiologist in March. Things are just moving along.

This week is family week for us. Bronson took off work to help me care for the babies. I must say he is going to be the best father in the world!! He is so good with all three of them. He's constantly getting up with me or his mom during the night for feedings and changing diapers. He's fun to watch!!

When we do start receiving visitors, it is so important for everyone to know that we are still inforcing the NICU rules. Please do not come over if you are currently sick (runny nose, fever, or cough) or have been sick in the last 3 weeks. When you do come over, you will be asked to wash your hands. Please no children under age 16 until at least April. Since the babies are preemies, they are extremely vulnerable to bacteria and viruses. It will most likely be April before we're able to take them to church. But, we need to do what's in the best interest of the babies. We definitely do not want to go back to the hospital for any reason.

Thank you so much for all your prayers and support. We know that God has heard every one of you. We have been blessed beyond belief!! I will continue to share all the joys of being a parent and the exciting life of triplets.

Jennifer, Bronson and the triplets,

I am so happy to read that these precious babies are home where they need to be - GOD certainly blessed each of them and gave Elise the little push that she so needed. GOD Bless each of you and may your days always be as precious as each of these little ones are.
